Air Canada: what to check before booking

Air Canada is useful to compare when a trip crosses Canada or combines a Canadian domestic leg with an international flight. Check the complete itinerary rather than judging the long-haul segment alone.

Route and connection

Compare arrival airport, connection time in Toronto, Montréal or Vancouver, and whether a partner operates any segment.

What the fare includes

Check the booking screen for seat selection, a checked bag, change rules and refunds. Compare the final price with the same extras on another itinerary.

Baggage rules

Economy Basic tickets on some Canada, US, Mexico, Central America and Caribbean itineraries include a personal item but no standard carry-on bag. The allowance on your exact ticket takes priority over a general guide, especially when another airline operates a segment. Read Air Canada’s official baggage or fare rules before paying and again before departure.

Three checks that save time

  1. Confirm the departure and arrival airports, local times and total journey length.
  2. Identify the operating airline on every segment and check the connection margin.
  3. Add bags and seats to both fares, then compare the final price and change conditions.

Compare another option

For a second itinerary, see our United Airlines guide. You can also compare all airlines side by side before searching current flight prices.

This is a planning guide, not a quote or a promise of a particular allowance or service. Conditions can change by route, ticket and operating carrier.
